Georgia’s HEAR reopening is now single-family only; the multifamily pathway will not reopen — verified October 10, 2026, CozyKilowatt

GEFA’s HEAR page, read Oct. 10: the October reopening is single-family only, wiring and panels inside an HER project; multifamily will not reopen. Webinar Oct. 14.

Georgia’s HEAR program updates page, which first announced an October reopening on October 3, changed again between our October 7 and October 8 source checks; we read it in full on October 10, 2026. The sentence about who can apply now reads: “Under the revised HEAR program, single-family applicants will only be able to receive rebates for electrical wiring and panel upgrades in conjunction with an eligible single-family HER project.” A new footnote removes the other pathway outright: “HEAR will not reopen for the Multifamily pathway.” The pause since August 14, 2026, the “limited amount of funding” and the absence of a reopening day are unchanged.

The page also announces webinar #6 of Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates series, a Program Update on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from noon to 1:00 pm ET, with a registration link — the most likely place for GEFA to give the date. Our Georgia page, the registry row and the undated deadline entry now carry the single-family restriction; GEFA’s dashboard, last updated September 28, still shows $344,000 of HEAR funds available against $68.7 million for HER.

What this means for you

If you own or manage a multifamily building in Georgia, HEAR is not coming back for you; HER remains the program to ask about. If you are planning a single-family HER project, a HEAR-funded panel or wiring upgrade may be possible once the reopening is live — register for the October 14 webinar if you want the date first-hand, and do not sign a contract that assumes a HEAR discount on a heat pump, water heater or appliance.
