Chelan County PUD adds income-qualified heat pump rebates of $2,100 to $4,300 from fall 2026

Chelan PUD’s 2026–27 table now lists income-qualified tiers of $2,100, $2,700 and $4,300 beside the standard $1,600–$3,300 rebates. Applications run to March 31, 2027.

Chelan County PUD’s heat pump rebate page, read on September 27, 2026, publishes the full 2026–27 program-year table. Standard rebates are $1,600 for a ductless heat pump in a single-family home, $2,000 in a manufactured home, $1,000 per unit in multifamily buildings of five or more units, $3,300 for a first-time ducted conversion and $600 for an upgrade to a variable-speed heat pump.

New on the page are income-qualified tiers of $2,100, $2,700 and $4,300, which the PUD says start in fall 2026. Equipment must meet at least 7.5 HSPF2 and 14.3 SEER2. Ducted conversions need the contractor’s pre-authorization before work starts; for ductless systems the customer may apply directly. Applications for the 2026–27 amounts are accepted until March 31, 2027.

The PUD also states that federal law prohibits it from paying to remove a gas furnace — a fuel-switching restriction that mirrors DOE’s Program Notice 26-2 for the federal rebates. None of the pages we found in search results on September 27 mentioned the income-qualified tiers.

What this means for you

Wenatchee-area households below the PUD’s income thresholds should ask the PUD which tier they fall in before signing a quote: the difference between $1,600 and $4,300 is larger than most contractor discounts. East Wenatchee is Douglas PUD territory, where no heat pump rebate exists.
